Commercial Construction Estimator

Role Description The Construction Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Central Florida. This position is responsible for preparing detailed estimates for commercial construction projects, including analyzing plans and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, and developing accurate cost projections. Day-to-day tasks include soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids, coordinating with project managers and superintendents, and updating budgets as project scopes evolve. The Construction Estimator will create clear, organized proposals, maintain cost databases, and support value engineering efforts to align project design with budget goals. The role also involves ongoing communication with internal teams and external partners to ensure estimates are timely, accurate, and aligned with company standards.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in Construction Estimating and Quantity Take-offs to develop accurate scopes and project costs.
• Proficiency in Cost Management and Budgeting to track expenses, support value engineering, and maintain financial control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Effective Communication skills to collaborate with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers and to present estimates clearly.
• Experience with construction estimating software and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and building codes in Florida.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience as a construction estimator or in a related preconstruction role within commercial construction is preferred.
• Estimating experience for a General Contractor/Construction Management Firm is required.
