LTL DOCK WORKER - 6:30 PM - 2:30 AM M-F
Job Description
The LTL Dock Worker is responsible for safely and efficiently loading, unloading, staging, and organizing freight within a fast-paced Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) warehouse environment. This position requires strong attention to detail to ensure freight is handled correctly, placed in the proper destination area, and loaded according to routing and shipment documentation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Load and unload LTL trailers using forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Move and stage freight in designated destination bays based on routing instructions.
- Verify freight using PRO numbers, BOLs, pallet counts, destination codes, and shipping documentation.
- Ensure the correct freight is loaded onto the correct trailer and in the proper stop sequence.
- Complete required load verification paperwork accurately.
- Inspect freight for visible damage, shortages, overages, or incorrect labeling and immediately report discrepancies.
- Properly position freight inside trailers to maximize space while preventing damage during transit.
- Determine when pallets can safely be stacked and follow all stacking requirements.
- Secure freight when required to prevent shifting or damage.
- Maintain accurate pallet counts when loading and unloading shipments.
- Communicate discrepancies or routing issues with the Dock Supervisor, Dispatch Clerk, or management before loading questionable freight.
- Assist with receiving, cross-docking, staging, and outbound operations as needed.
- Perform daily forklift/equipment inspections before operation.
- Maintain a clean and organized dock, staging areas, and destination bays.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including required PPE and forklift safety rules.
- Immediately report damaged freight, equipment damage, accidents, injuries, and other safety concerns.
- Perform additional warehouse and dock duties as required.
Qualifications
- Previous LTL dock experience required.
- Forklift experience required.
- Ability to read and understand BOLs, manifests, PRO numbers, destination codes, and shipping documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow loading sequences and verbal/written instructions.
- Dependable attendance and ability to work assigned shift.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work on the dock for extended periods.
- Ability to safely lift and move freight as required.
- Ability to work around forklifts, trucks, trailers, and other warehouse equipment.
- Ability to work in warehouse conditions that may include heat, cold, noise, and changing weather conditions.
