Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Pay: $28–$35 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment and power equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with tractors, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, engines, and mechanical components.
This position is ideal for a skilled mechanic who can diagnose problems efficiently, perform quality repairs, and keep equipment operating safely and reliably.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain heavy equipment and power equipment.
- Perform mechanical repairs on tractors, loaders, and other equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, and fittings.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems, wiring, batteries, starters, alternators, switches, and controls.
- Troubleshoot engine, drivetrain, cooling, fuel, and other mechanical systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections.
- Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics when needed.
- Use diagnostic tools and testing equipment to identify equipment problems.
- Replace, rebuild, or repair worn or damaged components.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Communicate equipment issues, repair needs, and recommendations to management.
- Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, diesel mechanic, agricultural equipment mechanic, or similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience with tractors and heavy power equipment.
- Solid knowledge of hydraulic systems and hydraulic troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of 12V/24V electrical systems and electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, meters, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment.
- Ability to read basic hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize repair work.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, quality workmanship.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Experience with diesel engines and diesel-powered equipment.
- Experience with agricultural, construction, or industrial equipment.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Manufacturer or technical training/certifications.
- Experience with computerized equipment diagnostics.
