Job Title: Department Supervisor – Service (Shop Foreman)
Reports To: Department Manager
Summary: Provide supervision to department members in the performance of their job.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise the performance of members to obtain maximum efficiency on all work performed in the department.
- Organize, prioritize, schedule and assigned the work in the department.
- Maintain maximum profits of the department with expense control and efficiency to achieve acceptable profit margins.
- Communicate with customer as to needs, costs and timelines for performing the necessary work.
- Review all work orders for accuracy.
- Respond to customers in person or by telephone, whenever required.
- May require responding after normal working hours.
- Monitor work for completion accurately and on time.
- Resolve questions from members in the department.
- Provide training to new members where appropriate.
- May provide performance reviews to members of department.
- Communicate in a courteous and effective manner with customers and/or co-workers.
- Maintain a good working relationship with all other departments.
- Supervise and or prepare required documentation accurately and timely, including work orders, parts lists and time cards.
- Maintain and/or equip the department with the tooling necessary to complete the work.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of equipment and product technology.
- Read and interpret instruction manual and pertinent literature.
- Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety laws, policies and rules.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Department Supervisor, Department Manager or the General Manager.
- Overtime work may be required in this position.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Number of members supervised will vary with the location. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/Or Experience:
- Associate’s Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year College or Technical School; and 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- ·Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Training certifications as appropriate to the department.
- Current Drivers License
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work with computers and company computer programs.
