Foot & Ankle Institute of Ohio is seeking a caring, dependable, and experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our busy, family-oriented solo private practice specializing in Foot & Ankle Surgery.

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. No evenings, weekends, or holidays! We are looking for a dedicated team member interested in a long-term position.

Position Summary

The Medical Billing Specialist manages all aspects of medical billing and accounts receivable, including charge entry, claims submission, payment posting, denials and appeals, insurance follow-up, and patient billing communication and collections.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the practice's billing expert and go-to resource.
• Submit claims, post payments, manage accounts receivable, and follow up on unpaid claims.
• Research and appeal denied or underpaid claims and identify trends for the physician.
• Maintain knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding, medical terminology, insurance benefits, and payer requirements.
• Work with Medicare, Medicaid, Workers' Compensation, and commercial insurance plans.
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients regarding billing and financial matters.
• Work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
• Use Microsoft Office, practice management software, and EHR systems effectively.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of medical billing/healthcare billing experience in a medical practice or health system.
• Strong understanding of the medical revenue cycle, including claims, payment posting, denials, appeals, and collections.
• Working knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding and medical terminology.
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, Workers' Compensation, and third-party payers.
• Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative.
• Associate degree in a related field required; Bachelor's preferred.
• CPC or CCS certification preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
