Certified Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

Position Summary:

A Certified Nurse Practitioner (FNP) delivers primary and preventive care services according to established protocols and under preceptorship of a designated physician. The Certified Nurse Practitioner provides primary care including counseling and referral as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintains confidentiality of patients and corporate information;
2. Provides care in accordance with the corporate Health Plan and written clinical protocols;
3. Provides health promotion and education within both the center and the community;
4. Develops preventive health plans for individuals and for community populations;
5. Provides counseling to patients and families;
6. Maintains and provides documentation as required by the Board of Medical and Board of Nursing entities;
7. Maintains and provides up-to-date peer review evaluation in accordance with corporate policies;
8. Participates in corporate Quality Management activities;
9. Assists in special program activities as assigned;
10. Accurately documents and codes all services provided within the allotted timeframes.

Qualifications

1. Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
2. Certification as a nurse practitioner.
3. License to practice with the State of Alabama.
4. Two years experience as a nurse practitioner in public health or a community health setting preferred.
5. Must have basic computer skills.
