Job Description
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides essential one-on-one support to individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. This role is key to enhancing clients' quality of life through personal care, daily living assistance, and behavioral support, ensuring their safety and well-being. The DSP works within an individual client support structure, delivering compassionate, reliable care during various shifts including day, evening, night, and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance tailored to individual needs
- Administer medication according to prescribed guidelines
- Support daily living activities to promote client independence
- Offer behavioral support and positive interventions
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and client progress
- Monitor client safety and environmental hazards
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members
- Prepare meals respecting dietary requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years experience in direct support or caregiving roles
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong patient care skills with empathy and patience
- Effective communication and conflict resolution abilities
- Time management and organizational skills
- Accurate documentation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Ability Advocates of Oregon is seeking a compassionate, reliable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Redmond area.

Responsibilities
Provide support with daily living activities (ADLs) such as hygiene, meals, and mobility. Support community involvement and skill-building
Follow Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and all care instructions
Accurately complete documentation and service notes
Monitor and report any changes in health, behavior, or safety
Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment
Requirements
Reliable, consistent attendance is required
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and follow direction.
Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor and reliable transportation
Ability to pass a background check
Willingness to complete required trainings (paid)
Pay: $23-25+ an hour depending on experience
Training: Paid training provided
