Enep’ut Children’s Center is Fairbanks’ oldest nonprofit preschool. We are a passionate, tight-knit group dedicated to helping young children reach their full potential. We are looking for a fun-loving, dedicated, and creative individual to join our team as an Assistant Teacher. No prior experience? No problem! We are willing to provide full, hands-on training to the right candidate who is eager to learn and grow in the field of early childhood education.

Position Summary

As an Assistant Teacher, you will help create high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning experiences across all domain areas. You will work alongside lead teachers to foster a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment where children can learn to play, explore, and work cooperatively with others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum & Activity Support: Assist in planning and facilitating activities that support the whole child—physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively.
  • Childcare & Safety: Maintain a safe, clean, healthy, and responsive learning environment tailored to each child's needs.
  • Child Development: Demonstrate an understanding of early childhood ages and stages to guide and support developmental milestones.
  • Family Engagement: Maintain professional, open, and clear communication with parents and guardians.
  • Team Collaboration: Be an attentive, flexible team player who supports students, families, and co-workers.
  • Professional Growth: Maintain a willingness to continue your education and training in early childhood education.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Age: Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Transportation: Must have reliable transportation.
  • Learning Mindset: Must be willing to pursue continuing education in the early childhood field (onsite training provided).

Preferred (Not Required):

  • 1+ year of experience in early childhood education or childcare.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Frequent walking, bending, standing, stooping, and sitting on the floor with children.
  • Basic computer, phone, and office equipment literacy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
