Reporting to the Site Foreman, the Dump Truck Driver is responsible for safe and efficient transport of various materials to and from construction sites. The Dump Truck Driver’s responsibilities include using mechanical control levers inside the truck to unload materials, supervising the loading of materials onto the truck, and inspecting the truck for any mechanical issues before and after every trip. You should also be able to safely drive and operate the truck in all weather conditions.


To be successful as a Dump Truck Driver, you should be able to pick up and deliver materials according to a schedule. Ultimately, a top-performing Dump Truck Driver should perform all duties in accordance with company safety rules and Department of Transportation (DOT) road safety regulations.

Truck Driver Duties and Responsibilities


• Ability to lift one’s own body weight climbing steps in and out of cab of truck through use of three points


of contact i.e. one hand two feet or two hands one foot. Basically, climbing up a few steps on side of


truck.


• Ability to operate mechanical controls inside cab of truck with use of hands.


• Transporting crushed rock, sand, gravel and other materials to and from specified locations.


• Verifying the types of materials being transported and ensuring that they do not exceed weight


restrictions.


• Ensuring that the materials are loaded correctly onto the dump truck.


• Inspecting the dump truck before and after every trip, which includes checking the oil, gas and water


levels as well as the lights and tires.


• Promptly reporting any accidents, injuries or mechanical faults to supervisor.


• Operate various pieces of large equipment such as a loader in accordance with company procedures and


safety regulations.


• Regularly clean truck to preserve its quality and functionality (keeping cap clean and disposing of trash,


sweeping out cab, washing cab windows).


• Abide by all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as all company safety procedures


• Maintaining accurate driver logs.


• Commit to the overall safety of the work environment by always taking extra precautions to work with


the utmost care and consideration


• Occasionally perform manual labor duties incidental to assigned duties.


Truck Driver Requirements and Qualifications


• High school diploma or equivalent


• 3+ years of experience working driving commercial vehicles.


• Possession of a valid Class B CDL driver’s license


• Knowledge of proper operation of large commercial vehicle as well as safety standards


• Ability to maintain, inspect, clean, and occasionally repair certain parts of Truck.


• Keen attention to detail and situational awareness to maintain the safety of the work environment

• Strong work ethic and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds


Certificates & Licenses: Valid Drivers License, Medical Health Card, OSHA 10 Hour Card
