Position Summary


We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to oversee daily warehouse and yard operations at our steel and aluminum distribution center. The Warehouse Supervisor will work closely with the Operations Manager and lead the warehouse team in safely receiving, storing, processing, picking, staging, and shipping steel and aluminum products.

The ideal candidate is a strong floor leader who can prioritize work, communicate effectively, maintain high safety standards, and keep operations moving in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

  • Supervise daily warehouse, yard, receiving, and shipping activities.
  • Assign work to warehouse employees based on daily priorities and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate the receiving, unloading, storage, picking, staging, and loading of steel and aluminum products.
  • Ensure customer orders are pulled, checked, staged, and shipped accurately and on time.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient warehouse and outside storage yard.
  • Coordinate loading and unloading of flatbed trucks, trailers, and other delivery vehicles.
  • Monitor workflow and make adjustments to staffing and priorities as needed.
  • Work closely with the Warehouse Manager, Sales, Purchasing, and Transportation teams.

Safety

  • Lead by example and promote a strong safety-first culture.
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Supervise the safe operation of forklifts, overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Conduct daily safety checks and address unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Report accidents, injuries, near misses, and equipment issues promptly.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.

Inventory Control

  • Help maintain accurate inventory of steel, aluminum, and related products.
  • Verify incoming material against purchase orders, packing lists, and receiving documents.
  • Ensure products are properly identified and stored in designated locations.
  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.

Team Supervision

  • Provide day-to-day direction and leadership to warehouse employees.
  • Train new employees on warehouse procedures, equipment, safety, and material handling.
  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, productivity, and adherence to company policies.
  • Monitor the condition and safe operation of forklifts, cranes, trucks, saws, and other equipment..



Qualifications

  • 3+ years of warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or industrial experience.
  • Previous supervisory or team-lead experience preferred.
  • Experience with steel, aluminum, metals, or other heavy industrial products strongly preferred.
  • Experience operating or supervising forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
  • Overhead crane and rigging experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse receiving, shipping, inventory, and material-handling processes.
  • Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn warehouse/ERP systems.
  • Ability to read and understand shipping documents, purchase orders, and product specifications.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and industrial safety practices preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a warehouse and outdoor yard environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders as required.
  • Ability to work around heavy steel and aluminum products, forklifts, overhead cranes, trucks, and other industrial equipment.
  • Ability to lift or move materials and equipment as necessary.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE.

Schedule

Full-time, on-site position. The Warehouse Supervisor must be flexible to work the hours necessary to support customer shipments, receiving schedules, and operational requirements. Occasional overtime, early mornings, or extended hours may be required.
