Job Summary
The Manager, Supply Chain is responsible for managing day-to-day supply chain operations for the California headquarters, including logistics, shipping and receiving, procurement/purchasing, and materials & production planning. This role will lead and develop a growing team, including purchasing clerks, Shipping/Receiving Manager, and Planners while driving supplier performance, cost control, warehouse/inventory accuracy, and reliable material flow to support customer demand. The position may also provide purchasing support for the company’s smaller Texas operation, as needed. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, proactive leader with strong negotiation skills, experienced in developing and mentoring team members, ability to build/streamline departmental structures, and supply chain experience in the aerospace and defense industry, preferably with exposure to sourcing spring wires, metal stamping materials, tubing materials and CNC machining procurement.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Manage daily supply chain operations for the California location, including logistics, shipping and receiving, procurement/purchasing, materials & production planning, and coordination with manufacturing operations.
· Coach, mentor, and develop a growing supply chain team, including managers, purchasing clerks, and planners, with an emphasis on building capability, accountability, and consistent execution.
· Manage local procurement activities, including purchase order execution, supplier follow-up, expediting, sourcing support, operational supplies, and coordination with internal stakeholders.
· Negotiate pricing, delivery, lead times, and supplier terms; support and develop long-term agreements with key suppliers where appropriate.
· Support purchasing requirements for the company’s Texas location as business needs require, recognizing the smaller scale of that operation.
· Align materials planning, inventory availability, and production schedules to meet customer requirements and minimize shortages, excess inventory, and operational disruption.
· Oversee shipping and receiving operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant movement of inbound materials and outbound customer shipments.
· Drive supplier performance improvements related to quality, delivery, responsiveness, cost, and risk mitigation.
· Manage logistics activities, including inbound transportation, freight coordination, intercompany transfers, and outbound shipping to customers.
· Ensure cost-effective shipment execution while maintaining service levels, delivery commitments, and applicable compliance requirements.
· Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, sales, finance, and operations leadership to resolve supply constraints and improve end-to-end supply chain performance.
· Identify and implement process improvements in purchasing, planning, receiving, warehouse flow, supplier communication, and logistics execution.
· Maintain awareness of aerospace and defense customer expectations, supplier controls, documentation requirements, and relevant purchasing and logistics practices.
· Mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions through effective planning and contingency measures.
· Work closely with other functional areas to drive improved processes.
· Complete special projects and assignments as required
· Follows 5S practices, supports lean activities, and safety policies and procedures
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises and develops assigned managers, purchasing clerks, and planners; may provide functional guidance to other employees involved in planning, receiving, inventory control, logistics, and purchasing activities.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, logistics, materials planning, production planning, or manufacturing operations, including demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Strong experience in procurement/purchasing, logistics, shipping and receiving, warehouse management, and materials & production planning in a manufacturing environment.
• Aerospace and defense industry experience strongly preferred.
• Experience procuring metals required; exposure to purchasing spring wire, metal stamping materials, CNC-machined components, outside processing (heat & surface treatments), and related manufacturing commodities highly desired.
• Excellent negotiation skills, including experience developing supplier relationships, cost-reduction opportunities, and long-term agreements.
• Proactive, hands-on “go-getter” approach with strong follow-through, urgency, problem-solving skills, and the ability to remove roadblocks.
• Superior coaching, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to develop less-experienced team members and establish disciplined operating practices.
· ERP/MRP system experience required; M1 experience would be ideal. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office applications required.
· CPIM, CSCP, CPSM, or related supply chain/procurement certification a great plus.
