Job Type: Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities Available

Reports To: Pet Services Manager

We are seeking energetic candidates who are passionate about working with both pets and people to help find "furever" homes for thousands of rescued dogs and cats each year.

As a Pet Services Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing daily hands-on care for our adoption-ready animals while delivering exemplary customer service to match prospective adopters with their perfect pet.

Key Responsibilities

Animal Care & Facility Maintenance

  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitization of kennels, animal living spaces, and associated equipment.
  • Ensure all animals receive daily feeding, fresh water, and attentive care.
  • Monitor shelter pets for signs of illness and strictly follow protocols to prevent the spread of disease.

Adoptions & Customer Experience

  • Warmly greet and assist customers and potential adopters.
  • Share information about each animal's unique personality and qualities to help facilitate successful matches.
  • Educate adopters on the basic tenets of responsible pet ownership.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Experience: Previous shelter experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Availability: Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and a flexible/rotating schedule across a 7-day work week.
  • Physical & Environmental Comfort:
    • Ability to work comfortably outdoors in all weather conditions.
    • Comfort with exposure to noise, temperature variations, and shelter odors.
    • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs independently (and 50+ lbs with assistance).
    • Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and climbing.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication skills and a friendly, customer-focused attitude.
    • Ability to read and interpret animal behavior signals.
    • Reliability in following strict safety, sanitization, and health protocols.
