Position Summary

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the organization’s HR function, including compliance, employee relations, benefits administration, workforce strategy, and risk management. This role ensures alignment with federal, state, and local employment laws while supporting operational excellence and Client brand standards.

The HR Director will serve as a strategic partner to leadership while managing day?to?day HR operations, employee engagement initiatives, and organizational compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Employment Law

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ACA, EEOC regulations, wage and hour laws, and other applicable statutes.
  • Oversee and manage EEOC matters, responses, and investigations.
  • Administer and monitor FMLA and other leave programs.
  • Ensure ACA compliance, reporting, and documentation.
  • Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures.
  • Lead disciplinary processes and advise management on employee relations matters.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and audit readiness.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Oversee performance review processes (P Reviews).
  • Partner with leadership to manage performance improvement plans and corrective actions.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee matters.
  • Promote fair and consistent workplace practices.
  • Support a positive and compliant workplace culture.

Workers’ Compensation & Risk Management

  • Oversee workers’ compensation claims and return?to?work programs.
  • Manage customer incident reports related to employee matters.
  • Partner with operations to reduce workplace injuries and mitigate risk exposure.
  • Ensure proper documentation and claims coordination.

Benefits Administration

  • Oversee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and ancillary benefits.
  • Manage open enrollment and employee communication.
  • Reconcile benefits invoices and ensure billing accuracy.
  • Serve as liaison with benefits brokers and vendors.

Compensation & Wage Analysis

  • Conduct wage analysis and ensure market competitiveness.
  • Review pay practices for compliance with wage and hour laws.
  • Evaluate pay structures and recommend compensation strategies.
  • Ensure proper classification of employees (exempt vs. non-exempt).

Brand & Organizational Standards

  • Ensure HR practices align with Client brand standards and organizational values.
  • Support talent development initiatives aligned with company culture.
  • Drive employee engagement and retention strategies.
  • Partner with leadership to strengthen organizational identity and culture.

Strategic Leadership

  • Build and develop HR infrastructure and systems.
  • Support workforce planning and organizational growth.
  • Develop succession planning strategies.
  • Implement HR best practices across all locations.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to executive leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive HR leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of FMLA, ACA, EEOC regulations, and employment law.
  • Experience handling workers’ compensation and compliance investigations.
  • Proven experience in wage analysis and compensation strategy.
  • Strong leadership and employee relations skills.
  • Experience in multi-unit, franchise, or operational environments preferred.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
