Bankruptcy Case Manager
Job Description
Bankruptcy Case Manager
Full-Time | In-Office (Fort Myers) | Remote flexibility possible — up to 1 day/week after a 30-day trial, for candidates who demonstrate strong follow-through and case management
We are a growing Southwest Florida law firm seeking an exceptionally organized, detail-oriented Bankruptcy Case Manager to help manage Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases from retention through discharge.
Our clients genuinely mean a lot to us. People often come to our firm during one of the most stressful periods of their lives, and we believe they deserve to be treated with kindness, dignity, and diligence. We are professional, but also warm and down-to-earth. We want someone who shares that approach. We are a very small tight-knit office.
At the same time, this is a busy law practice where details, deadlines, organization, and follow-through matter tremendously.
Bankruptcy will be the primary focus of this position, but our firm also handles personal injury, estate planning, probate, and some real estate. From time to time, you may have the opportunity to assist with case management in these areas as well, making this a great position for someone who enjoys variety and wants exposure to different areas of law.
Requirements
- Manage bankruptcy files and keep cases moving from retention through completion
- Communicate with clients in English and Spanish
- Communicate with court personnel professionally and concisely
- Collect, review, organize, and properly save client documents
- Consistently follow up with clients for missing information
- Prepare files for attorney review, filing, and § 341 meetings
- Assist with Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 case processing and data entry
- Answer the phones occasionally
- Monitor court notices, trustee communications, and case activity
- Calendar hearings, § 341 meetings, deadlines, and other important dates
- Monitor email and make sure messages requiring action are handled
- Track post-filing requirements through discharge and case closing
- Identify issues requiring attorney attention
What We're Looking For
We need someone who can take ownership of a file. Someone who is proactive, organized, and comfortable taking responsibility for managing work from start to finish.
You should be able to assess what needs to be done, identify missing information, keep track of deadlines, coordinate follow-ups, and make sure important updates are communicated to the right people.
The ideal candidate is:
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented
- Reliable and punctual
- Proactive with excellent follow-through
- Comfortable managing multiple active cases and deadlines
- Warm, patient, and professional with clients
- Persistent about obtaining needed documents
- Comfortable learning and following established systems
- Able to recognize when something needs immediate attorney attention
Bankruptcy or law-office experience is strongly preferred, but intelligence, initiative, organization, reliability, and attention to detail are extremely important to us.
Our Culture
We work hard and take our responsibilities seriously, but we are not a cold law office. We want people who are kind, positive, hardworking, helpful, and willing to pitch in.
We care about our clients, we support one another, and we take pride in helping people get a fresh start.
If you're someone who loves keeping things organized, notices when something is missing, follows through without reminders, and believes you can be excellent at your job while still being a genuine human being, we'd love to hear from you!
