JOB SUMMARY:

  • The Plant Manager – is responsible for leading GHSP’s Customer and Team-Member focus of “Relentless Pursuit toward the Ideal State World Class Operations” (on Demand, One by One, Defect Free, Zero Waste, Safe), establishing a culture of producing ZERO Defects and exceeding KPIs. The Plant Manager provides direction to salaried and hourly production and support staff employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. Leads the strategic actions to the Plant daily, weekly, monthly Operating cadence and reporting. Successfully creating an environment focused on value creation through problem solving, people development, and company values – driving Mutual Trust & Respect. Is the location source for leading continuous improvement, benchmarking and sharing best practices and leading talent development. Accountable for driving higher standards of excellence in manufacturing high quality products in a safe manner while assuring cost-efficient products and on-time delivery to customers, and for maintaining an environment of positive employee relations in a team environment.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for overall performance of assigned work group, including safety, quality, compliance, cost and output schedule performance.
  • Responsible for coaching and improving individual and team performance to acceptable standards, including but not limited to quality, safety, and job performance.
  • Ensure team compliance with policies, procedures, and work rules, including discipline for noncompliance.
  • Serve as primary communication vehicle between leadership team and production team.
  • Assures employees are consistently being trained and developed so that talent is retained and succession plans remove gaps in bench strength.
  • Responsible for training and developing team members and assuring that all employees understand how to perform the job in a safe manner to quality and productivity standards.
  • Maintain positive employee relationships within and between departments as well as other plant locations.
  • Design, implement and lead projects to support a culture of continuous improvement and the GHSP Business Operating System (Train the Trainers and Lead by Teaching).
    • Manage FMDS (Floor Management Delivery System).
  • Drive department metrics (SQDCM) and problem solve to address gaps.
    • Lead the coaching and mentoring for Problem Solving to drive root cause for any SQDCM misses
  • Experience with implementing Lean culture in a manufacturing environment is required, along with prior experience leading multiple functions

COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Engineering, Business, or other related field required.
  • Strong planning, problem analysis and resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Able to make timely decision in stressful situations.
  • Must be team-oriented with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively adapt to change (environment, requirements, roles, objectives)
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Compelling communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft office with heavy emphasis on excel


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline, an MBA is a plus.
  • 8+ years’ quality manufacturing experience, in the Automotive Space. Ideally at the OEM, Tier 1 level.
  • Experience in global leadership, change management and ability to work effectively within a matrix environment
  • Strong process development background with demonstrated proficiency to gain organizational commitment and agreement to execute new processes
  • Experience and/or Certification in applying Six Sigma, Black Belt, Shainin Red X and other proven Practical Problem Solving methods are required.
  • Demonstrated experience - developing, implementing and leading global Operational and Lean strategies.
  • Prior experience in leading Production, Quality, Materials, and Lean.
