Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced, dependable, and motivated Generator Technician to join our growing service team.
In this role, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial standby generator systems at customer locations. You’ll work with leading generator equipment, diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and help ensure our customers’ critical backup power systems are ready when they’re needed.
This is a traveling field position for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, solving problems, working independently, and delivering quality service.

What You’ll Do
· Install commercial and industrial standby generator systems from start to finish.
· Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections on generator equipment.
· Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and mechanical issues.
· Perform system testing, startup, and commissioning.
· Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, prints, and installation plans.
· Identify equipment issues and recommend appropriate repairs or maintenance.
· Complete service reports and required documentation accurately and on time.
· Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment operation, service needs, and maintenance recommendations.
· Maintain company-provided vehicle, tools, and equipment.
· Follow OSHA regulations and all company safety policies and procedures.
· Travel throughout the assigned service area as required.
What We’re Looking For
· Previous experience installing, maintaining, or servicing generator systems.
· Experience with Generac, Kohler, Cummins, or similar generator equipment is preferred.
· Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
· Ability to obtain a chauffeur’s license within the first 90 days of employment, as required by the employee’s state of residence.
· Ability and willingness to travel throughout the assigned service area.
· Strong customer service and communication skills.
· Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities in the field.
· Ability to lift 75+ lbs.
· Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
· Generac or other generator manufacturer certifications.
· EPA certification is a plus.
· Electrical license preferred but not required.
