Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled, hands-on, and service-focused Lead Cook to support daily culinary operations and ensure the consistent execution of exceptional food quality and presentation. The ideal candidate is passionate about culinary excellence, takes pride in their craft, and leads by example while supporting a high-performing kitchen team in a refined, fast-paced environment.
The Lead Cook is responsible for overseeing station execution during service, maintaining high standards for food quality, preparation, presentation, and sanitation, and ensuring the kitchen is properly prepared for each shift. This role works closely with the Chef and culinary team to maintain smooth service, support team members, and consistently deliver dishes that meet the property's elevated culinary and guest service standards. The Lead Cook promotes a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement while serving as a positive example for the culinary team.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily station operations and execute menu items with precision, consistency, and attention to presentation.
- Ensure mise en place, stations, and kitchen areas are fully stocked, organized, and service-ready.
- Maintain high standards for cooking techniques, seasoning, portioning, temperature, plating, and food quality.
- Coordinate service flow and communicate effectively with Chefs and kitchen team members to ensure timely, seamless execution.
- Monitor food quality, inventory levels, product rotation, and waste throughout the shift.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Assist with training, coaching, and supporting team members to ensure consistent execution of recipes and standards.
- Identify and promptly communicate equipment issues, product shortages, and operational concerns to management.
- Remain composed and demonstrate a strong sense of urgency during high-volume service while maintaining fine-dining standards.
- Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and commitment to culinary excellence.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 2 years of culinary leadership experience within luxury hotels, resorts, or upscale restaurants, preferred.
- Previous experience as a Cook or Lead Cook in a luxury hotel, resort, fine-dining restaurant, or comparable culinary environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, cooking methods, and presentation standards.
- Thorough knowledge of food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and applicable health regulations.
- Food Handler Certification and/or ServSafe certification required or obtained within an established timeframe.
- Ability to execute recipes consistently, maintain high-quality standards, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
- Ability to coordinate station operations, support service execution, and assist with training and coaching team members.
- Strong organizational, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead by example and maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must be available to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Schedule & Compensation
- Shift: Mornings
- Additional shifts: May be available based on business needs and operational requirements.
- Availability: Must be flexible to accommodate occasional schedule changes, special events, and business needs.
- Compensation: Competitive hourly rate of $24.50 - $26.00, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
