Manual Machinist
Job Description
We are currently hiring an experienced Manual Machinist for a manufacturing facility in the Charleston area. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong mechanical skills and experience working with manual machining equipment.
Requirements:
- Operate and set up manual lathes, mills, boring machines, grinders, and related equipment.
- Read blueprints and work orders to determine how parts should be machined.
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, speeds, and feeds.
- Measure and inspect completed parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision equipment.
- Make machine adjustments to maintain proper dimensions and tolerances.
- Safely use hand tools, shop equipment, and material-handling equipment.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area.
- MIG welding experience is a plus, but not required.
Qualifications:
- Approximately 5 years of machining experience or related training.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with measurements, fractions, decimals, and basic machining math.
- Ability to read technical drawings and use precision measuring tools.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to operate forklifts and jib cranes.
- Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work independently.
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, crouch, and perform physical work.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Overtime, weekends, or call-in work may occasionally be required.
