Machine Technician
Job Description
The Machine Technician plays a key role in preparing and maintaining production equipment used to manufacture personal care products such as shampoos, conditioners, and body wash for high-volume retail clients. In this role, you set up, adjust, and clean bottling and packaging machinery for each production run, ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe operation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You work hands-on with mechanical equipment, perform line changeovers, and support continuous production while collaborating closely with a team of operators and technicians.
Responsibilities- Perform line changeovers by taking apart, cleaning, and reassembling production machines to prepare for each new production run.
- Conduct sanitation washes for filler machines to meet cleanliness and product quality standards.
- Set up filler machines for the correct bottle size and product weights based on production requirements.
- Adjust machine rails to fit the correct bottle and packaging sizes for each job.
- Configure and set up labeling machines and box coder equipment prior to production.
- Monitor production lines during operation and provide assistance to operators as needed to maintain throughput and minimize downtime.
- Check labelers throughout the day to ensure labels feed correctly and change label rolls when needed.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on mechanical and production equipment to resolve issues quickly.
- Support preventive maintenance activities on machines to reduce unexpected breakdowns.
- Use computer interfaces attached to machines to enter settings, verify configurations, and monitor performance.
- Follow safety and sanitation procedures while working with mechanical equipment and in proximity to production lines.
- Work extended hours when required to support production schedules, including up to approximately 55 hours per week.
- Collaborate with a team of production staff and technicians to meet daily and weekly output goals in a fast-paced environment.
- At least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing bottling environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to take apart machinery, clean components, and reassemble equipment correctly.
- Hands-on experience with machine setup and changeovers in a production setting.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues on production equipment.
- Capability to perform basic machine maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Comfort working with computers and machine interfaces to configure and monitor equipment.
- Ability to stand and be on your feet for up to 11 hours per day as needed.
- Willingness and ability to work a minimum of 45 hours per week and up to approximately 55 hours during busy periods.
- Comfort working in a hotter environment that can reach 90+ degrees during summer production.
- Strong attention to detail when setting machine parameters for bottle sizes, weights, labeling, and coding.
- Forklift experience is a plus but not required.
- Experience in a fast-paced production or packaging environment.
- Mechanical ability to work with a variety of bottling, labeling, and coding equipment.
- Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting experience on manufacturing machinery.
- Being bilingual in English and Spanish is beneficial for communication on the production floor.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team of technicians and production staff.

Work EnvironmentYou work in a fast-paced production facility with a team of approximately 34 individuals, focused on manufacturing personal care products for major retail clients. The environment can become quite warm, reaching above 90 degrees at times, especially during summer production, and requires comfort with extended periods on your feet and longer workdays. The standard shift runs from 5:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the expectation that some days and weeks may extend to 5:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to meet production demands. You work directly with bottling, filling, labeling, and box coding machinery, using computer interfaces attached to equipment to manage setups and monitor performance. The dress code includes safety toe shoes, regular work attire with shorts permitted, a hairnet, and no requirement for safety glasses, providing a practical and straightforward workwear standard for the production floor.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eagan, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
