Packaging Operator
Job Description
This role focuses on monitoring an automated food production line, packaging finished products for shipment, and maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant work area. You will work on a set shift with occasional overtime, handling physical tasks such as lifting and standing for extended periods while following strict food safety and quality guidelines.
Responsibilities- Monitor the assembly line of food products as they come out of production to ensure consistent quality and output.
- Package finished food products accurately and efficiently for shipment according to established standards.
- Lift and move products and materials weighing up to 50 pounds while standing for an 8-hour shift.
- Clean facility floors and production equipment to maintain a safe, sanitary, and compliant environment.
- Label finished goods correctly and verify that all labels are accurate and legible.
- Perform visual inspections of packaging to identify defects, damage, or nonconformance and take appropriate action.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all safety and food safety procedures at all times.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and address any issues on the line.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper handling and storage of materials and tools.
- 2+ years of previous manufacturing experience in a production setting.
- Ability to stand comfortably for an 8-hour shift.
- Comfort working in a food production environment that may contain allergens.
- Experience with general production, packaging, or general labor tasks.
- Ability to perform consistent visual inspections for quality and packaging integrity.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly during the shift.
- Willingness to follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene requirements.
- Previous food manufacturing experience.
- Background as a packaging operator, packager, or packer.
- Experience working in cleanroom or controlled production environments.
- Familiarity with labeling and basic quality checks in a production setting.

Work EnvironmentThis is a food production facility operating under strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). You work on a fixed shift schedule with occasional overtime: 1st shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. The environment requires adherence to specific dress and hygiene standards, including no jewelry, false eyelashes, or piercings while on the production floor. Certain areas of the facility can be cold, and jackets are provided for comfort. The floors can be wet due to the nature of food processing, but the facility is very well lit and maintained to be safe and relatively comfortable. You spend most of your shift standing and performing physical tasks in a structured, team-oriented production setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Avon, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.21 - $20.66/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
