The Machine Operator I plays a vital role in the manufacturing process by refining parts through various machining methods and keeping the production cycle running smoothly. Working under general and routine supervision and following established procedures, this role operates production machines to manufacture components that meet precise item specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Operate production equipment such as brushing, lapping, rolling, drilling, chamfering, and grinding machines using existing setups and fixtures to manufacture parts to specification.
  • Start and stop machines as needed to maintain product quality, safety, and production efficiency.
  • Use quality control gauges and measuring tools, including dial calipers and outside and depth micrometers, to monitor production parts for conformance to specifications.
  • Inspect own work-in-process in accordance with accepted procedures and submit parts for in-process inspection as required.
  • Make minor machine adjustments under routine supervision to maintain consistent quality of production.
  • Maintain proper lubrication and fluid levels to ensure safe and efficient machine operation.
  • Remove scrap metal from machines to support safe, clean, and efficient operation.
  • Report equipment or tooling malfunctions promptly to the appropriate lead personnel.
  • Move parts between work areas and accurately complete daily logs and required inspection reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall production and manufacturing goals.
Essential Skills
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Machine Operator or in an equivalent role with demonstrated skills and product knowledge.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand and work with mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to write by hand and keyboard and operate small measurement devices.
  • Strong visual acuity for close detail work, microscope inspection, operating tools and machinery, and using measurement devices to detect small defects and work with small parts.
  • Capability to read fine graduations on micrometers accurately.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience using gauge blocks.
  • Familiarity with laser ZYGO or similar precision measurement equipment.
  • Previous experience with machine operation in general production environments.
  • Comfort working with rolling machines and related production equipment.

Work Environment

The work environment centers on a manufacturing facility focused on designing and producing advanced fluidic pathway solutions. The operation does more than build individual components; it develops integrated, innovative systems that optimize performance across the entire fluidic pathway. Product lines include column hardware, degassers, fluidic connections, manifolds, pumps, pump components, sensors, and valves. The role involves working around production machinery, precision measurement devices, and inspection tools, including microscopes and specialized metrology equipment. The environment requires regular handling of metal parts, removal of scrap material, and adherence to established safety and quality procedures. Employees work on-site around active production lines and are expected to follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work area.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middleborough, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.20 - $24.20/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
