Staff Accountant
Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Eugene, Oregon. This role will focus on accounts payable activities, expense oversight, reconciliations, and routine financial reporting while helping maintain accurate records across key accounting processes. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
• Process accounts payable activities by reviewing submitted expenses, validating invoices in financial systems, and ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding items.
• Examine employee reimbursement requests and work directly with team members to resolve missing information, policy questions, or approval delays.
• Establish new supplier records with accuracy, maintaining complete documentation and supporting proper vendor onboarding procedures.
• Monitor aging payables and communicate with internal stakeholders to address overdue balances, open issues, and payment exceptions.
• Perform account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet and clearing accounts to support accurate month-end records.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc journal entries, ensuring transactions are coded correctly and supported by appropriate backup.
• Compile and review financial activity reports related to bank deposits.
• Assist with work tied to core accounting processes and other designated accounting support needs through the end of the engagement.
• Detail-oriented experience in staff accounting or a similar accounting support role with hands-on exposure to accounts payable functions.
• Working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger activity, and account reconciliation practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for organizing data, reviewing transactions, and supporting reporting needs.
• Experience handling employee expense documentation and reviewing reimbursement submissions with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, investigate discrepancies, and follow through on open accounting items independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across accounting and business teams.
