Make a difference in the lives of high school students as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting educational access and communication in a dynamic school setting. This full-time contract opportunity places you alongside educators and students, using your expertise in sign language interpretation to empower learning and connection. Work on a school calendar, engaging with a caseload of high school students in a collaborative, inclusive environment.
What You’ll Bring:
- Fluency in sign language and strong interpreting skills
- EIPA score of 4.0 or higher (including the written test), and listed on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Dept. of Health)
- Candidates with RID or NIC certification are welcome, but must also have the EIPA written requirement
- Previous experience with virtual interpreting platforms (VOCO) is required
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and facilitate clear communication
- Flexibility and adaptability in educational settings
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate sign language interpretation for high school-aged students during classes, activities, and meetings
- Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and other professionals to provide the best educational experience
- Support student learning, social participation, and independence through your interpreting services
- Monitor, document, and communicate student progress and needs as part of the educational team
- Remain adaptable; caseload and number of assigned schools may vary
