Job Description
Step into a dynamic educational setting specializing in life skills programming for students with unique communication and developmental needs. This contract opportunity spans two campuses, offering a well-rounded experience supporting approximately 33 students in a collaborative environment. The position runs from August 31, 2026, through June 17, 2027, with a full-time schedule totaling 40 hours per week.
Your week will be evenly split between two sites: one focused on students with special education needs, and the other emphasizing socialization and behavioral support. You’ll work closely with a diverse group of professionals, including special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and onsite assistants, ensuring ample support as you deliver high-quality speech-language services. Although you will be the primary SLP onsite, you’ll benefit from ongoing virtual guidance and monthly team meetings with a network of 12 SLPs.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Active CCC-SLP certification required, with experience in a school setting strongly preferred
- Background supporting life skills, including robust knowledge of feeding and swallowing (safe eating) practices
- Experience with AAC devices and strategies
- Capable of working independently while engaging in collaborative support systems
- Comfortable working with high-needs students and willing to adapt to a variety of communication and behavioral profiles
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech and language services to a dedicated caseload in both structured and flexible settings
- Assess, design, and implement treatment plans for students with communication challenges, including those with feeding/swallowing and AAC needs
- Contribute expertise to interdisciplinary teams and offer consultative support to staff
- Maintain clear intervention documentation and participate in regular team meetings
