Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) near Hammond, IN, supporting students’ communication growth during a crucial period. This position spans from August 10th through the end of October, providing coverage while the full-time SLP is on FMLA leave for the first 12 weeks of the school year.
You’ll work across two elementary settings and collaborate closely with an assigned Speech-Language Assistant (SLA), enhancing service delivery for a larger caseload of 117 students. Flexibility is offered, with considerations for candidates who prefer onsite or VOCO (virtual/remote) service delivery.
Key Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Valid SLP license and ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
- Experience in school settings with elementary-age students
- Comfort managing a large, dynamic caseload with support from an SLA
- Strong collaboration and organization skills
- Adaptability to provide services both in-person and via teletherapy (if desired)
Role Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders in assigned students
- Write and implement IEPs in collaboration with school teams
- Supervise and guide the assigned SLA in daily therapy activities
- Keep accurate documentation and progress reports for each student
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and parent communications
- Flexibly navigate both in-person and virtual service delivery models
