Job Title: Production MIG Aluminum Welder

Job Description

This role focuses on high-volume production welding using MIG on thin-gauge aluminum components. You will weld and assemble long aluminum structures by applying consistent, high-quality MIG weld beads on rungs and supports, while independently setting up and adjusting welding equipment to meet production and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform production MIG welding on thin-gauge aluminum components, primarily using a wire-fed process.
  • Weld 1.5-inch wire-fed MIG beads on rungs that attach to sidelines along a 20-foot piece of material.
  • Ensure accurate placement of rungs (supports) at 1-foot intervals along the length of the material.
  • Weld aluminum material ranging from 1/16 inch to 1/8 inch thick while maintaining proper heat control and weld integrity.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate MIG welding machines independently, including parameters such as voltage, wire speed, and gas flow.
  • Use a measuring tape to verify dimensions, spacing, and alignment of rungs and supports according to specifications.
  • Inspect welds visually to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to production standards.
  • Follow fabrication and production instructions, drawings, or guidelines as required to complete assemblies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper handling and storage of materials and equipment.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and shop rules while working in an open-air, non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Support overall production goals by working efficiently and being available for overtime as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2+ years of overall welding experience.
  • At least 1+ year of MIG welding experience.
  • Hands-on experience welding thin-gauge aluminum, specifically 1/8 inch or thinner.
  • Proven ability to set up and adjust MIG welding machines independently.
  • Ability to weld consistent 1.5-inch wire-fed MIG beads on aluminum components.
  • Proficiency in reading and using a measuring tape accurately.
  • Experience working in a production welding environment.
  • Capability to work with thin-gauge aluminum material in the 1/16 inch to 1/8 inch range.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain weld quality over long runs of material.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience welding other processes beyond MIG (plus).
  • Fitting experience, including aligning and positioning components prior to welding (plus).
  • Experience in aluminum fabrication or production welding environments.
  • Comfort working in a contract position with potential for extension or conversion.
  • Willingness to work either day or night shift based on production needs.

Why Work Here?

You join a busy production environment that offers substantial overtime opportunities, allowing you to significantly increase your earnings while sharpening your welding skills. The role provides the stability of a multi-month contract with a strong possibility of extension and potential conversion to a longer-term opportunity. You can choose between day or night shifts, giving you flexibility to align your work schedule with your personal life, and you will gain valuable experience working with aluminum in a high-volume fabrication setting.

Work Environment

The position is based in an open-air, non-climate-controlled shop environment, where you will work around active fabrication and production equipment. This is a 5-month contract role with a high likelihood of extension and potential to transition into a longer-term arrangement.
