Staff Pharmacist in Elgin, IL

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A pharmacy role is available for a Staff Pharmacist to support warehouse operations in Elgin, IL. This six-month contract position operates Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee receipt, storage, and distribution of medications, including refrigerated and specialty items.
• Manage inventory levels by ordering medications and supplies while minimizing waste and expired products.
• Ensure proper storage conditions aligned with USP standards and state/federal regulations.
• Verify medication orders before preparation or shipment.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians involved in inventory tasks, picking, packing, and shipping.
• Coordinate with sterile compounding pharmacists and technicians to ensure availability of medications and supplies.
• Review controlled substance inventory and maintain required documentation.
• Perform cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and quality assurance audits.
• Collaborate with purchasing, nursing, and operations teams to support timely medication delivery.
• Utilize pharmacy software and inventory management systems for tracking.

Qualifications:

• Active and clear Illinois Pharmacist License.
• Some knowledge of IV medication preparation and handling.
• Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
• Familiarity with USP standards and regulatory compliance.
• Experience using pharmacy inventory management software is preferred.
