We are looking for a welcoming and service-focused Guest Services Representative to support daily visitor engagement at the museum in Memphis, Tennessee. This contract opportunity with potential for a long-term role is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with the public, creating a positive guest experience, and helping visitors navigate exhibits with confidence. In this role, you will serve as a visible point of contact throughout the museum, offering guidance, sharing key exhibit information, and contributing to both service excellence and on-site sales goals.

Responsibilities:
• Welcome visitors at assigned museum locations and create a friendly first impression from arrival through entry.
• Provide clear directions and helpful answers as guests move through exhibit spaces, hallways, and other public areas.
• Share prepared information about permanent and rotating exhibits to help guests better understand the museum experience.
• Support front-door and box office operations by assisting with guest inquiries and reinforcing high service standards.
• Monitor designated stations across the museum to help maintain coverage, organized traffic flow, and a smooth visitor experience.
• Speak to guests before and after theater presentations, offering brief instructions and helpful context for their visit.
• Build strong knowledge of the museum, its exhibits, and the Civil Rights era in order to respond accurately to visitor questions.
• Contribute to organizational service and sales objectives by delivering attentive support and identifying opportunities to assist guests effectively.• At least 2 years of experience in customer service, guest-facing support, retail, or a similar public-facing environment.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to engage visitors in a courteous and attentive manner.
• Comfortable standing for extended periods while working at assigned stations throughout the museum.
• Availability to work weekends and a schedule that includes being off on Tuesdays plus one additional day during the week.
• Ability to guide guests, manage directional questions, and maintain composure in a busy visitor setting.
• Confidence speaking to small groups or individuals in public areas such as entrances, exhibit halls, or theater spaces.
• Demonstrated ability to learn detailed information quickly and explain it in a clear, approachable way.
