Job Description
Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting students near Lakewood, OH for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity lasts from late August through early June, offering a rewarding chance to guide students with unique needs in a supportive environment. Working 37.5 hours per week, you will help shape educational growth for diverse learners in just one building, ensuring strong connections and consistent support.
Your expertise will be valued in one of two classrooms: a Multiple Disabilities (MD) classroom with 9-12 students facing autism, non-verbal communication, physical impairments, and more, or an Emotional Disabilities (ED) classroom with 10-15 students requiring behavior intervention plans, social-emotional instruction, and crisis management.
To thrive in this role, successful candidates will bring:
- Valid certification in Special Education (focusing on MD or ED/or both preferred)
- Experience implementing IEPs, BIPs, and delivering differentiated instruction
- Strong skills in crisis intervention and social-emotional support strategies
- Comfort working with assistive technology and adaptive tools
- Collaborative spirit with educators, families, and support staff
- Outstanding organizational abilities and patience
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and adapting instruction to each student’s strengths and challenges
- Leading small groups and individualized lessons in a structured classroom
- Crafting, monitoring, and updating educational and behavioral plans
- Coordinating with related service providers (therapists, aides, etc.)
- Maintaining open communication with parents and caregivers
- Completing documentation and progress reporting accurately and on time
