Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a hands-on Building Engineer to support the daily operations and maintenance of a 250,000-square-foot, four-story commercial office building in Independence, OH. This role is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining critical building systems, with a strong focus on central chiller plants, cooling towers, and large-scale commercial mechanical equipment. This is not a rooftop HVAC position; candidates must have experience operating and servicing central plant systems in a commercial environment.
The Building Engineer will perform preventative maintenance, seasonal equipment startups and shutdowns, respond to tenant service requests, and coordinate with vendors and contractors on repairs. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting plumbing, electrical, lighting, carpentry, and fire alarm systems, managing work orders, assisting with in-house construction projects, reading plans and schematics, and helping maintain a safe, comfortable environment for a fully occupied office property. This is a highly hands-on role with minimal oversight of vendors and no direct staff management responsibilities.
Qualified candidates will have commercial building maintenance experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and proven troubleshooting skills. Experience with central chillers, cooling towers, building systems, tenant interaction, and vendor coordination is strongly preferred. A Stationary Engineer license, certifications, or formal education are a plus but are not required for candidates with relevant hands-on experience. Strong customer service, organization, computer proficiency, and the ability to respond to occasional after-hours emergencies are essential.
