We are looking for a detail-oriented People Operations Assistant to support day-to-day HR activities for a manufacturing organization in Chatsworth, California. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone with at least 3 years of experience who enjoys balancing employee support, records administration, payroll coordination, benefits assistance, and recruiting operations. The person in this role will help keep HR processes organized, accurate, and compliant while delivering a positive experience for employees and candidates.


Responsibilities:

• Manage and organize employee personnel documentation and digital HR files to ensure records remain accurate, complete, and up to date.

• Prepare a range of employment documents, including offer materials, onboarding forms, employment changes, and verification requests.

• Support the employee lifecycle by assisting with onboarding activities, orientation coordination, offboarding steps, and required separation paperwork.

• Communicate with employees regarding policies, benefits, payroll matters, training assignments, and required compliance acknowledgments.

• Contribute to payroll operations by reviewing timesheets, assisting with weekly payroll processing, updating employee changes, and helping resolve pay-related discrepancies with managers.

• Maintain payroll and HR records in alignment with internal standards and applicable legal or compliance requirements.

• Assist with benefits administration by supporting enrollments, qualifying life event updates, leave documentation, and open enrollment communications.

• Coordinate recruiting logistics by scheduling interviews, tracking applicant activity, maintaining recruiting records, and supporting pre-employment screening and onboarding requirements.

• Help plan and support employee engagement initiatives, recognition efforts, and company events while handling sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality.

• 3+ years of experience in human resources, people operations, or HR coordination roles.
• Hands-on experience with onboarding, HR administration, and employee record management.
• Familiarity with HRIS platforms and maintaining accurate personnel data within electronic systems.
• Experience supporting payroll processes, including timesheet review, employee changes, and related documentation.
• Knowledge of HR compliance practices and the importance of handling confidential information appropriately.
• Background in benefits support, employee inquiries, and general HR program administration.
• Experience coordinating interviews, background checks, and other recruiting support activities.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
