Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Data Entry Clerk to support a busy healthcare team in Portland, Maine. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who can balance speed, accuracy, and compassion while working directly with patients and collaborating with clinical and administrative staff. The role is fully onsite and requires a flexible schedule, including training on weekend shifts and availability for rotating hours as needed.
Responsibilities:
• Collect, verify, and enter patient health information with a high degree of precision to support state reporting and related documentation processes.
• Interact professionally with patients, clinicians, interpreters, and office staff while maintaining a respectful and compassionate approach in sensitive situations.
• Maintain strong productivity while ensuring all records are complete, accurate, and submitted in accordance with departmental expectations.
• Provide coverage for coworkers during absences, vacations, weekends, and holidays as part of a continuous operation.
• Participate in training that may include weekend assignments and extended shifts during the onboarding period.
• Communicate clearly in both spoken and written formats to resolve discrepancies, gather required details, and support smooth team coordination.
• Handle confidential medical information responsibly and follow established procedures for documentation and data quality.
• Assist with additional departmental tasks as needed to support daily operations and patient service needs.
• Experience in data entry, medical office support, or a similar administrative role within a healthcare setting.• Working knowledge of clinical data management practices and basic medical terminology.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact calmly and professionally in patient-facing environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and comfort learning department-specific systems and workflows.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information with accuracy and discretion.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with patients, clinicians, and support staff.
• Flexibility to work onsite in Portland, Maine, with rotating schedules that may include weekends, holidays, and extended training shifts.
