Forklift Operator

This role involves operating sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks in a small regional distribution center that uses a pen-and-paper inventory system. The position focuses on safely handling and moving large HVAC units and managing high-volume inventory within a warehouse environment.

• Operate sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks to move, load, and unload large HVAC units within the warehouse.
• Handle materials safely and efficiently, including the movement of large and heavy inventory items.
• Perform loading and unloading of trucks and other vehicles using appropriate equipment.
• Support order picking and staging activities to ensure accurate and timely movement of products.
• Maintain accurate inventory movement records using a pen-and-paper system as required by warehouse processes.
• Organize and position large HVAC units in designated warehouse locations to optimize storage and accessibility.
• Inspect equipment before use and report any issues or safety concerns to maintain a safe work area.
• Follow all warehouse safety procedures and guidelines while operating material handling equipment.

• Proven experience operating sit-down forklifts in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
• Experience using pallet jacks to move and position materials.
• Demonstrated ability to handle large and heavy inventory items, including HVAC units or similar products.
• Background in loading and unloading materials from trucks or staging areas.
• Hands-on experience with order picking and material handling tasks.
• Ability to work effectively with a pen-and-paper inventory or tracking system.
• Strong awareness of safety practices related to forklift operation and warehouse work.

• Experience working in a small warehouse or regional distribution center environment.
• Familiarity with HVAC products or other large mechanical units.
• Ability to stay organized while managing multiple inventory movements throughout the day.
• Comfort working in a setting that relies on manual, paper-based processes rather than fully automated systems.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Islandia, NY.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
