Special Education Teacher in Lakewood, OH

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting students with special needs in an educational setting near Lakewood, OH. Two dedicated special education professionals are needed for the 2026-2027 school year, beginning August 24, 2026 and concluding June 7, 2027. You’ll work 37.5 hours per week, providing structure, encouragement, and instruction within a single school building.

Your work will directly impact either a classroom for students with multiple disabilities (MD, including autism, non-verbal, and physical impairments) of 9-12 learners, or an emotional disabilities (ED) classroom serving 10-15 students, focusing on behavior intervention plans (BIPs), social-emotional learning, and crisis intervention.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (or related field)
• Current, valid special education licensure
• Experience with students with multiple disabilities, autism, and/or emotional disabilities
• Skilled in implementing and monitoring IEPs, BIPs, and crisis response protocols
• Demonstrated ability to foster a supportive, structured classroom environment
• Strong communication and documentation skills when collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Empathy, patience, and commitment to individualized instruction

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, adaptive instruction to students in assigned caseload
• Develop and implement IEPs, BIPs, and behavioral supports tailored to student needs
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other educators to maximize student success
