Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead large-scale energy efficiency, capital improvement, and major maintenance construction projects supporting energy asset operations. This role will oversee projects from conceptual planning through pre-construction, construction, and closeout, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate large-scale construction projects across multiple disciplines, including clients, vendors, contractors, plant management, operations, procurement, legal, and internal teams.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, cost estimates, scopes of work, bills of materials, standards, and supplier quotes.
- Manage field resources, personnel, subcontractors, and contractors throughout construction and project closeout.
- Monitor project progress, costs, schedules, invoices, forecasting, and change orders.
- Coordinate shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and other project documentation.
- Develop subcontract and procurement documentation, including scopes of work, equipment/material lists, and specifications.
- Negotiate subcontractor and procurement scopes, terms, and conditions.
- Partner closely with plant operations and maintenance teams to ensure effective project execution.
- Maintain safe working conditions and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Review and interpret mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and architectural drawings.
- Resolve project issues and challenges while maintaining cost-effective operations.
- Support estimating, value engineering, and project financial planning.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience in construction project management, energy plant management, or a related field.
- Experience managing construction projects and coordinating subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, engineering documents, and construction processes.
- Experience with project budgeting, cost tracking, cost estimating, and forecasting.
- Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and architectural drawings.
- Knowledge of plant infrastructure, including boilers, chillers, gas turbines, auxiliaries, and control systems.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience with project scheduling/tracking software such as Primavera and construction/work-order systems such as Maximo.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and technical writing skills.
- Proven ability to manage contractors, technical personnel, and administrative resources.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work onsite and perform physical activities including walking long distances, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years managing construction projects and/or energy asset operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience managing multi-capital facility and asset improvement projects in partnership with Operations & Maintenance teams.
- Experience with Design-Build contract projects.
- PE license preferred.
- PMP certification or ability to obtain within one year.
