Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead engineering strategy, manufacturing performance, and technology deployment across a global cable manufacturing organization. This role involves driving process improvements, capital projects, cost reduction initiatives, product industrialization, and engineering capability development while partnering closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Technology, and Operations teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering teams responsible for manufacturing capability, quality, capacity, and cost improvement initiatives.
- Drive process optimization, continuous improvement, and operational excellence programs to enhance manufacturing performance.
- Oversee capital projects, equipment upgrades, and implementation of new manufacturing technologies.
- Lead the industrialization and deployment of new products, materials, processes, and equipment.
- Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities while maintaining product quality and meeting customer requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and improve process capability.
- Manage engineering project portfolios, prioritize resources, and drive strategic initiatives.
- Develop and mentor engineering talent while fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
- Support global manufacturing sites through technology transfer, problem-solving, and best-practice deployment.
Essential Skills
- Proven project management and engineering management experience.
- Experience managing global capital expenditure (capex) programs.
- Strong engineering technical experience, particularly in process improvement and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with extrusion, wire, and cable manufacturing.
- Ability to manage engineering resources and priorities effectively.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Progressive experience in manufacturing, process, or engineering leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success leading capital projects, process improvements, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Strong experience in manufacturing operations, process engineering, and continuous improvement.
- Experience managing engineering teams and developing technical talent.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
- Preferred experience in cable, wire & cable, fiber optics, advanced materials, polymers, extrusion, or related manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting global operations and technology deployment.
Work Environment
You will manage a team of 70 people with 4 direct reports. The role involves a high production forecast for the next 2-5 years. This position offers significant visibility with upper leadership, influencing manufacturing performance across multiple sites, and plays a key role in developing technology and engineering talent.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Hickory, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $170000.00 - $230000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
