Job Description
The Area Agency on Aging of Broward County (AAABC) is a nonprofit organization serving Broward County's senior residents, age 60 or older. The AAABC plans, develops, coordinates, and evaluates programs; funds services; and is the prime Advocate for residents of Broward County, Florida, 60 years of age or older. We are your one-stop source of information regarding services in Broward County, Florida, for older adults, persons with disabilities, ages 18 and over, their families, and caregivers.
We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and customer-focused Transportation Coordinator to oversee our Lyft transportation program that connects older adults with safe, reliable, and accessible transportation through our Lyft-based ride service.
This is more than a scheduling position—it’s an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults by helping them maintain their independence, access essential services, and remain active in their communities. Every ride coordinated has the potential to help a senior attend a critical medical appointment, pick up groceries, participate in social activities, or simply maintain their quality of life.
Duties
- Program Oversight — Manage daily scheduling, ride coordination, and service flow
- Ride Scheduling — Coordinate Lyft rides for older adultls, ensuring timely pickups and drop‐offs
- Client Support — Assist older adults by phone, text, or in person with ride requests
- Program Management — Track ride usage, maintain records, and monitor service quality
- Community Engagement — Build trusting relationships with seniors and caregivers
- Issue Resolution — Troubleshoot ride delays, cancellations, or app concerns
- Data & Reporting — Maintain logs, track metrics, and prepare monthly reports
- Participant Communication — Provide clear instructions and support to seniors
- Vendor Coordination — Liaise with Lyft support when needed
- Quality Assurance — Monitor ride reliability and address service issues
Requirements
- Administrative or program‐management experience
- Experience working with adults 60+ or in a customer‐service role
- Strong communication and patience
- Strong computer skills (Excel & Google Sheets) and comfort using apps, smartphones, and web‐based tools
- Ability to multitask and stay organized
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Day Shift, 8am-5pm
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
