We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can work efficiently in a shop or field-service environment.


Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, construction equipment, generators, or fleet vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel-system problems using diagnostic equipment and service manuals.
  • Repair or replace engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, driveline, exhaust, cooling, and emissions-control components.
  • Conduct DOT and safety inspections as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Communicate repair findings, recommend work, and estimate timelines to foreman and upper management.
  • Follow all company safety policies, environmental procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Respond to roadside or field-service calls when assigned.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred.
  • Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy-equipment mechanic, fleet technician, or automotive technician.
  • Working knowledge of diesel engines, air brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, and emissions systems.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, repair manuals, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to safely operate shop equipment, hand tools, power tools, jacks, lifts, and diagnostic devices.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL is preferred.
  • ASE certifications, particularly Medium/Heavy Truck certifications, are preferred but not required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding conditions, including standing, bending, kneeling, and working around noise, grease, and changing weather conditions.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with International, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Mack, John Deere, Case, Caterpillar, Ditch Witch or similar platforms.
  • Welding, fabrication, or trailer-repair experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting, time-management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with management and crew leaders.
