Job Description
Summary
This position installs CPVC, black steel, copper piping and fire sprinkler heads in commercial and residential buildings.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Installer
- Work accurately and efficiently to install piping and fire sprinkler heads
Routine Duties And Responsibilities
- Set up tools at job site as needed
- Unlock toolbox
- Organize material
- Drill wood
- Hang pipe
- Glue CPVC pipe
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned and directed
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have any Supervisory Responsibilities.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Field Supervisor or Superintendent.
People Contact
Ability to work well with other employees and customers.
Decision-Making
No decision-making ability, except as directed and authorized.
Qualifications
Must be able to proficiently use skill saw, hole hawg, and hammer. Must know how to cut PVC and accurately read a tape measure. Must wear work boots and required PPE.
Education And/Or Experience
Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Driver’s License required.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands
BODY POSITIONS: Includes sitting, standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching with hands and arms. Must be able to lift or exert force of up to 50 pounds.
BODY SENSES: Must have command of the senses of sight, hearing, speech, and touch. Must be able to see (20/20 vision with glasses) and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficient to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations. There are no special vision requirements.
Work Environment
This position will be working primarily in near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
