Position Overview
Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the Special Education Teacher will provide specialized instruction and educational support to students across grades K-12. The teacher will collaborate closely with general education staff, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student achievement and ensure compliance with all special education requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
- Provide specialized instruction and academic support to students with disabilities.
- Deliver small-group, one-on-one, and classroom-based instruction.
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to support diverse learners.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, therapists, and support staff to ensure student success.
- Monitor academic and behavioral progress and maintain accurate documentation.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Implement accommodations and modifications in accordance with student IEPs.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes growth and independence.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Missouri teaching license in Special Education or eligibility to obtain appropriate licensure.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- One (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and evidence-based instructional practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.
- Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
- Standard Special Education Teaching Certification.
- Standard Elementary or Secondary Teaching Certification.
- Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement.
- Experience supporting students across multiple grade levels.
- Experience writing and implementing IEPs.
Additional Requirements (If Applicable)
- Current CPR Certification.
- TB Screening Documentation.
- Current Health Certificate as required by state or district guidelines.
