Position Overview

Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the Special Education Teacher will provide specialized instruction and educational support to students across grades K-12. The teacher will collaborate closely with general education staff, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student achievement and ensure compliance with all special education requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
  • Provide specialized instruction and academic support to students with disabilities.
  • Deliver small-group, one-on-one, and classroom-based instruction.
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to support diverse learners.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, therapists, and support staff to ensure student success.
  • Monitor academic and behavioral progress and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Implement accommodations and modifications in accordance with student IEPs.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes growth and independence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Missouri teaching license in Special Education or eligibility to obtain appropriate licensure.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • One (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Standard Special Education Teaching Certification.
  • Standard Elementary or Secondary Teaching Certification.
  • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement.
  • Experience supporting students across multiple grade levels.
  • Experience writing and implementing IEPs.

Additional Requirements (If Applicable)

  • Current CPR Certification.
  • TB Screening Documentation.
  • Current Health Certificate as required by state or district guidelines.
