Gillmann Services is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Shop Foreman to oversee daily shop operations, lead a fabrication team, and ensure sheet metal projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
The ideal candidate will have strong sheet metal fabrication experience, leadership skills, and the ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings. This position requires someone who can lead by example while maintaining high standards for quality, productivity, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of sheet metal shop employees.
- Assign work and monitor production schedules to ensure projects stay on schedule.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication plans.
- Oversee fabrication of ductwork, fittings, and other sheet metal components.
- Operate and oversee the proper use of shop equipment and fabrication machinery.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
- Train and mentor shop employees and help develop less-experienced fabricators.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
- Monitor material usage and help control waste.
- Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, and installers as needed.
- Troubleshoot fabrication issues and make decisions to keep production moving.
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Track production and communicate job status, material needs, and issues to management.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Sheet Metal Foreman, Shop Foreman, Lead Fabricator, or similar position.
- Strong sheet metal fabrication experience.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and shop drawings.
- Knowledge of sheet metal tools, machinery, and fabrication processes.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- OSHA/safety knowledge preferred.
- Commercial or industrial sheet metal experience preferred.
