POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Business Development Specialist serves as F3 Credit Union's primary ambassador in the community, leading efforts to grow membership, deepen relationships, and increase awareness and utilization of products and services across all channels. This highly visible role requires a proactive, boots-on-the-street approach, with extensive outreach through community events, employer groups, networking opportunities, business partnerships, and educational programs.

This position is responsible for identifying and cultivating new membership opportunities, expanding the credit union's field of membership, establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships, and representing F3 Credit Union throughout the communities it serves. Success in this role requires building trust, creating meaningful connections, and actively engaging with businesses, community organizations, and members to strengthen the credit union's presence and reputation.

In addition to community outreach and business development, this position collaborates closely with the Marketing Manager to support marketing initiatives, promote products and services, and execute campaigns that align with F3 Credit Union's strategic goals. The ideal candidate is relationship-driven, sales-focused, self-motivated, and knowledgeable about financial institution products, services, and applicable regulatory requirements. This position is expected to gather market intelligence, identify opportunities for growth, influence organizational engagement, and prepare reports and recommendations as assigned.

MAJOR DUTIES

· Serves as F3 Credit Union's representative in the community by maintaining a strong presence at community events, networking functions, business expos, chamber events, employer worksites, benefit fairs, financial education seminars, and other outreach opportunities.

· Develops and maintains relationships with Select Employer Groups (SEGs), local businesses, community organizations, schools, and other strategic partners to expand membership opportunities and strengthen brand awareness.

· Conducts regular onsite visits, member drives, presentations, workshops, and educational sessions to promote membership growth and increase product and service utilization.

· Identifies, develops, and pursues new business development opportunities through active prospecting, networking, referrals, and community engagement.

· Acts as a visible and accessible ambassador for F3 Credit Union, fostering positive relationships and promoting the organization's mission, values, and community impact.

· Is required to open new accounts, cross-sell credit union products and services, develop partnerships with business owners, realtors and brokers. Seek community opportunities that give brand exposure to the credit union.

· Tracks, analyzes, and reports business development activities and sales metrics, including memberships, event participation, referrals, incentives, and partnership outcomes, to evaluate effectiveness and identify growth opportunities.

· Collaborates with the Marketing Manager to develop and implement business development strategies that support organizational goals and membership growth objectives.

· Provides field insights, member feedback, and market intelligence to recommend new programs, services, partnerships, and process improvements.

· Partners with Marketing and Operations teams to coordinate outreach efforts, support promotional campaigns, and ensure staff awareness of upcoming business development activities and events.

· Assists in the development of sales tools, educational materials, event collateral, and other resources that support membership growth initiatives.

· Coordinates and participates in credit union-sponsored events as well as external community and industry events, including evenings and weekends as necessary.

· Acts as a liaison between F3 Credit Union and external organizations to establish and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships that support membership growth, community engagement, and brand visibility.

· Serves on interdepartmental project teams and collaborates across the organization to advance strategic initiatives.

· Keeps abreast of operational procedures, product offerings, regulations, and training requirements.

· Monitors performance trends, lead generation activities, sales outcomes, and member engagement metrics, providing recommendations for improvement.

· Complies with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering regulations, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Completes all required training as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Demonstrated ability to build relationships, network effectively, and represent the organization professionally within the community.

· Must have excellent networking skills and be able to ask for the business. In addition, excellent follow up.

· Proven experience generating business opportunities through community outreach, networking, partner development, and face-to-face engagement.

· Comfortable working in a highly visible role that requires frequent travel within the service area and attendance at community, business, and networking events.

· Strong public speaking and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

· Proven track record of being self-motivated, self-directed, and proactive, with an innate drive to take ownership of tasks and initiatives.

· Ability to be well organized, work independently and autonomously, and show proactive initiative in decision-making and problem-solving, both independently and as part of a team.

· Ability to learn and perform complex processes and duties.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to network and foster relationships that bring business to the credit union.

· Broad knowledge of, and proven experience with, credit union or other financial institution operating areas, functions, products, and services preferred.

· Detail oriented, with the ability to generate accurate and precise work while meeting deadlines, including under pressure.

· Ability to provide workable recommendations and solutions to problems.

· Ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in an efficient and effective manner.

· Strong outside and inside sales skills.

· Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to support business development activities and community events.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as content management systems.

EDUCATION

· Bachelor's degree preferred or comparable education and work experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Performs primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled office environment and travel to offsite locations for community, business development, and outreach events. Must be able to go up and down stairs or ladders when required. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer, including keyboard and ten-key use, for an average of 6-8 hours per day when necessary. Must be able to operate routine office equipment, including phone, copier, scanner, fax, and calculator. Must be able to work extended or flexible hours when required or requested, including occasional evenings and weekends. Must be capable of regular and timely attendance.
