An apartment complex is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician whose responsibility will be to assist in all aspects of facility maintenance, renovation and general maintenance, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing repairs. You will work 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in a 24-hour emergency maintenance on-call schedule on a rotating basis and respond on-site within 45 minutes for emergency calls
  • Assist in the facilities maintenance plan, preventive maintenance schedule, and respond to all service requests within 24 hours
  • Work in support of the whole Facilities Team in their duties and responsibilities; creating a student first environment excelling in customer service, communication, and quality of service
  • Perform general plumbing repairs including leaks, drains, toilets, sinks, showers, and gaskets and electrical repairs including bulb and ballast replacement, fixtures, sockets, outlets, and GFCIs.
  • Complete painting and drywall repair and/or replacement projects as scheduled
  • Clean and maintain equipment and tools routinely, maintain, clean, and organize storage and Maintenance Shop daily
  • Maintenance, repair, and replacement of entry door, lock, and key systems and complete exterior maintenance repairs and projects
  • Monitor and maintain entrance ways, walkways, common areas, and hallways to ensure they are clean, clear, and safe for pedestrians and students
  • Handle daily removal of building trash and recycling and take part in regular inspections of the buildings and systems as required
  • Assist with restoring the rooms and common areas to their original condition upon resident or guest move-out through maintenance and repairs
  • Ensure proper safety procedures are followed, and Personal Protective Equipment is used
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Job Qualifications:

  • Must have an Associate’s Degree or Vocational Degree in a Trade, Facilities Management, Project Management, or a related field
  • A Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience and expertise in plumbing, HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems as well as generally accepted maintenance practices is needed
  • Must have previous experience working with facilities maintenance in student housing or campus facilities
  • Must have knowledge of chilled water systems fan coil units
  • Must be comfortable with frequently climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
  • Must be safety-conscious, detail-oriented, a team player, with the ability to maintain a professional image
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must have own reliable transportation
