The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and facility equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. This position performs both preventative and emergency maintenance while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity.
The Maintenance Technician must have strong mechanical skills, a technical mindset, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. This position may rotate between different areas of the bakery and requires flexibility and a willingness to learn new equipment and technologies.
Training Schedule: Training will be conducted on 1st shift to ensure proper onboarding and equipment training. Once training is completed, the employee will transition to their assigned 2nd or 3rd shift schedule based on the position's staffing needs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on production and facility equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and identify the cause of equipment failures.
- Repair and replace worn or damaged mechanical components.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair conveyor systems and mechanical drives.
- Perform proper lubrication of machinery and equipment.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of various production equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and document completed work.
- Use SAP or similar maintenance software for parts checkout, work orders, reporting, and data entry.
- Follow proper maintenance procedures and safety practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Identify and report potential equipment hazards or safety concerns.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures and never work on energized equipment.
- Assist with maintaining boilers, refrigeration systems, and other facility equipment as required.
- Continue developing technical knowledge through training and hands-on experience.
- Work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime.
- Perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Previous industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, or mechanical experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Basic understanding of conveyors, mechanical drives, and production equipment.
- Ability to read and follow maintenance procedures and instructions.
- Basic computer skills; experience with SAP is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new equipment and technologies.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and rotate between different work areas.
- Any required licenses or certifications for boilers, refrigeration, or other regulated equipment are a plus.
