Manufacturing Quality Engineer
Job Description
Help Drive Quality That Customers Trust
At GZ Printpak, quality is more than inspection. It is a critical part of how we build customer trust, strengthen our manufacturing processes, and support long-term operational success.
As our U.S. manufacturing operation continues to grow, we are looking for a hands-on Quality Engineer who can help strengthen our quality systems and drive improvements across production, supplier quality, and customer satisfaction.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the manufacturing process, solving problems at the source, and turning quality data into practical improvements. You will work directly with production, maintenance, engineering, suppliers, and leadership to reduce defects, improve process capability, and ensure our products consistently meet customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Lead quality assurance activities from incoming materials through in-process production and final product evaluation.
- Work directly with production teams to identify, investigate, and resolve defects, non-conformities, and process deviations.
- Lead structured root cause analysis and corrective action activities using tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, SPC, and FMEA.
- Analyze quality trends, scrap, rework, defects, and other quality performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and process reliability.
- Manage and support customer quality concerns, complaints, investigations, and corrective action responses.
- Support supplier quality activities, including incoming material concerns, supplier corrective actions, and follow-up on recurring quality issues.
- Conduct internal quality audits and support compliance with ISO 9001, customer requirements, and company quality standards.
- Support new product introduction and product qualification activities, including sampling, specifications, process validation, risk analysis, and customer approval requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and improve quality documentation, including control plans, inspection standards, work instructions, quality records, and procedures within the Quality Management System.
- Partner with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance to improve manufacturing processes and prevent recurring quality issues.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on quality standards, inspection methods, defect identification, and company procedures.
- Promote a culture of quality ownership, process discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the facility.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent manufacturing quality experience may also be considered.
- 3+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or comparable Quality Management Systems.
- Demonstrated experience investigating manufacturing quality problems and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Experience with root cause analysis and quality tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, SPC, FMEA, or similar methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate quality data into practical process improvements.
- Comfortable working directly on the production floor and collaborating with operators, supervisors, maintenance, engineering, suppliers, and leadership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in printing, packaging, paper converting, consumer goods, or related manufacturing industries is preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems, quality management software, or manufacturing data systems is a plus.
- CQE, CQA, Internal Auditor, Lean, or Six Sigma certifications are preferred but not required.
Why Join GZ Printpak?
- Join a growing U.S. manufacturing operation backed by a global leader in print and packaging production.
- Play a meaningful role in developing and strengthening quality systems as the operation grows.
- Work directly with production and leadership to solve real manufacturing challenges.
- Have the opportunity to influence processes, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives rather than simply maintain established systems.
- See the direct impact of your technical expertise and problem-solving on product quality and manufacturing performance.
