Quality Technician
Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Quality Technician III to join our manufacturing team. This position will perform advanced quality inspections, testing, audits, calibration, documentation, and root cause analysis while working closely with Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, customers, and suppliers.
The Quality Technician III will also serve as a process owner and trainer in at least three quality-related functions and represent the Quality Department during internal, customer, and supplier meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform receiving, in-process, final, product, and process inspections.
- Conduct customer-specific testing, FAIR, PPAP, and other required quality activities.
- Perform ISO internal audits and layered/process audits to ensure procedures are being followed.
- Identify product and process defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Work with Operations and Engineering to investigate and resolve production and quality issues.
- Develop and complete lab test plans and testing standards based on customer and engineering requirements.
- Perform and maintain calibration of gauges, masters, and laboratory equipment according to QMS requirements.
- Complete quality reports, inspection documentation, test records, and other required paperwork.
- Monitor daily quality performance and review charts to identify trends or quality excursions.
- Validate test equipment used in manufacturing that may impact product quality.
- Perform and document grain, weld, hardness, thickness, and chemical testing as required.
- Operate precision measurement equipment, including Keyence Digital Microscope, optical comparator, profilometer, and other inspection tools.
- Complete bellows setup verification and support process development and continuous improvement activities.
- Train team members and serve as a process owner for at least three quality functions.
- Communicate with customers and suppliers regarding quality-related issues when needed.
- Participate in internal and external meetings as a representative of the Quality Department.
- Work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all company safety policies and 5S standards.
- Support and maintain the company's Quality Policy and Quality Management System.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a quality-focused role.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in science, engineering, quality, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T.
- Knowledge of basic metrology and measurement system analysis.
- Experience with ISO 9001:2015, AS9100, and/or ISO 17025 preferred.
- Experience with quality audits, corrective actions, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to prepare and understand basic statistical data.
- Strong computer and documentation skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Previous experience with 5S and continuous improvement programs preferred.
