Based in Sacramento, our attorneys are known for providing practical, strategic representation in complex litigation matters while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and client service.

Our practice includes employment litigation, public entity and education law, personal injury and premises liability, products liability, professional liability, disability access and discrimination claims, and general and coverage counsel services. We regularly defend school districts, community college districts, counties, municipalities, and private entities in state and federal courts throughout California.

At JSL, we believe the best attorneys are developed through hands-on experience, meaningful responsibility, and close collaboration with experienced litigators. Associates work directly with shareholders, contribute to case strategy, and gain substantial litigation experience early in their careers.

As an Associate Attorney at JSL, you will participate in all phases of civil litigation and work closely with experienced attorneys on a diverse range of matters. This position offers significant client contact and courtroom exposure, along with the opportunity to develop strong litigation and trial skills in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Taking and defending depositions;
  • Writing and arguing substantive law and motion, including dispositive motions;
  • Participating in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences;
  • Assisting with trial preparation and trial proceedings; and
  • Working directly with clients, experts, and witnesses throughout the litigation process.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and eager to take ownership of their cases while working collaboratively with colleagues.

Candidates must be licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar.
