Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Control Panel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience building, wiring, troubleshooting, and testing electrical control panels and industrial control systems. This position requires strong attention to detail, electrical knowledge, and the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and wire electrical control panels according to electrical drawings and specifications
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
- Install breakers, relays, contactors, terminal blocks, PLC components, VFDs, and other electrical components
- Perform point-to-point wiring and ensure proper labeling and wire routing.
- Inspect completed panels for quality, accuracy, and workmanship
- Test and troubleshoot control panels and electrical systems
- Identify wiring errors, electrical faults, and component issues and make necessary corrections
- Use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow company safety procedures, electrical codes, and quality standards
- Work with engineers and other technicians to resolve electrical and control-system issues
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Control Panel Technician, Electrical Technician, Panel Builder, or similar role
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Knowledge of industrial electrical components and control systems
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, relays, contactors, and control transformers is preferred
- Ability to use a multimeter and other electrical test equipment
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Good attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- OSHA/safety training and electrical certifications are a plus
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work with tools for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move electrical components and equipment as required
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing or industrial environment
