Dental Assistant / Surgical Assistant
Job Description
As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced pediatric dentists and anesthesia providers in both our office and hospital operating room settings, making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families.
- Assist the pediatric dentist during a variety of dental procedures performed under nitrous oxide sedation and general anesthesia in our office.
- Prepare treatment rooms and surgical equipment before procedures.
- Assist with dental procedures performed at UPMC and Penn State operating rooms.
- Maintain strict infection control and sterilization protocols.
- Take and process dental radiographs (Dental Radiology Certification required).
- Monitor and maintain clinical supplies and equipment.
- Help create a calm, welcoming experience for children and their families.
- Work collaboratively with dentists, anesthesia providers, and fellow team members to provide exceptional patient care.
Qualifications
- Previous dental assisting experience preferred.
- Dental Radiology Certification is required, but will train to be certified.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude, dependable work ethic, and commitment to teamwork.
- Passion for working with children and providing outstanding patient care.
Schedule
- Monday through Thursday (36 hours per week)
- Occasional Fridays are designated as hospital surgery days and are shared on a rotating schedule amongst dental assistants.
