Commercial Electrician


Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Commercial Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in commercial buildings and facilities. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety procedures, and commercial electrical installations, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair commercial electrical systems, wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Install and connect electrical panels, breakers, switches, outlets, lighting systems, and other electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems and perform repairs efficiently and safely.
  • Perform electrical installations for new construction, renovations, and commercial projects.
  • Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper operation and compliance with applicable codes.
  • Follow the National Electrical Code (NEC), local regulations, and company safety standards.
  • Use electrical testing equipment and hand/power tools safely and effectively.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other trades to complete projects on schedule.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Complete required documentation, service reports, and material requests.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Electrician.
  • Knowledge of commercial electrical systems, wiring methods, and equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints, electrical diagrams, and schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of NEC requirements and electrical safety standards.
  • Ability to use electrical tools and testing equipment.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
  • Electrical license or certification preferred, depending on local requirements.
  • Ability to work at heights, lift materials, and perform physically demanding tasks when necessary.
  • Strong communication, reliability, and teamwork skills.

Work Environment

This position may involve working in commercial buildings, construction sites, warehouses, and other facilities. The electrician may be required to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions depending on the project.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry electrical materials and equipment.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
  • Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and elevated work platforms.

Safety

The Commercial Electrician is expected to consistently follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, electrical codes, and job-site procedures to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others.
